Dear Friend,
We hope all is well with you and your family, and that you are safe and healthy.
This week, Congressman Raja joined Wolf Blitzer on CNN to discuss the latest evidence presented at the January 6th hearings. Video surfaced of Speaker Pelosi and other lawmakers scrambling to secure the Capitol on January 6th and ensure that the election of President Biden was certified. The Congressman told Wolf, "There was shock, outrage, and anger at what the insurrectionists were doing and what Donald Trump was not doing in sending National Guard troops to quell the insurrection...There was bipartisan sentiment that we've got to finish our job today, get back, and certify this election, and make sure the insurrectionists do not prevail."
The Congressman also appeared on WGN to discuss recent developments in the January 6th investigation and the subpoena of the former president. The Congressman told hosts, "Yesterday he, even before being served with the subpoena, put out a fourteen page response to the public announcement that he was going to be served with the subpoena. He not only double and tripled down, he may have quadrupled down on the 'Big Lie' that there was widespread fraud in the 2020 election and he called the insurrectionists from January 6th 'great American patriots'…. these are the people he wants to pardon if he gets elected to the presidency again."
Congressman Raja spoke to John Howell on WLS about the proposed $31 billion railway merger. Congressman Raja told John about the significant negative impact of seeing the number of freight trains almost quadruple from 3 to 11 freight trains each day: "As it is, we have three freight trains a day that travel the Milwaukee district west line which goes through most of the suburbs in my congressional district... It already causes commuter delays for Metra travelers along with delays in public safety response times, especially for police and fire emergency crews."
On Friday, Congressman Raja appeared on FOX alongside Senator Mark Warner to warn of the ongoing dangers of TikTok data collection and its invasive algorithms. TikTok is owned by the Chinese company, ByteDance, which is obligated to operate under Chinese national security laws. As a result, TikTok is required to comply with Chinese government directives, and can not reveal any cooperation with the Chinese government. Congressman Raja explained, "You just cannot avoid the conclusion that the Chinese Communist Party, if it wanted to, could easily access data [via TikTok] on our phones in the U.S."
