Raja Update 10/3

Dear Friend,

We hope all is well with you and your family, and that you are safe and healthy.

This past week, Congressman Raja testified at a U.S. Surface Transportation Board hearing, warning of potential Metra commuter delays that could occur if the Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern railroads merge as planned. The merger would increase freight traffic from three daily trains to as many as 18 on average, drastically worsening local freight traffic and causing inordinate delays for suburban Metra commuters.  Congressman Raja said, "If the current merger proceeds as proposed, Metra ridership and its finances will be devastated."

Last week, Congressman Raja appeared on CBS to speak about ongoing developments in the January 6th investigation. It has been revealed that Anton Lunyk was the rioter whom the White House called on January 6, but it is not yet known who made the call or if there was an exchange between the two. "I think that it's fair to say we all knew that the White House was somehow involved with Jan. 6 on the very day that the insurrection was happening," Congressman Raja CBS News. "So any information about this particular phone call would help to develop that narrative further."

We will continue to bring you news about Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi's work in D.C. and Illinois.
